OUR MISSION
FOOD PROCESSING AND THE CIRCULAR ECONOMY
OLAOLA manufactures and markets in Quebec a range of products made mainly with fruits and vegetables rescued from food waste. Our company aims to offer businesses and consumers healthy, vegan, gluten-free, dairy-free and natural alternatives.
To reinforce its fight against food waste, OLAOLA redistributes some of the fruit and vegetables saved to associations. What's more, to limit its impact on the environment, OLAOLA offers its products in zero-waste versions whenever possible.
Since February 2021, OLAOLA has been a member of La Centrale Agricole, the largest urban agriculture producer and processing cooperative in Quebec. It's on these premises that the company develops its new products and revalorizes several tons of fruit and vegetables every month.
EVENTS DEPARTMENT
STREET-FOOD, BAR RENTAL & CULINARY ENTERTAINMENT
For 10 years in France, OLAOLA specialized in street-food, serving several thousand customers. This expertise led the company to move into the organization of numerous corporate and private events, where the level of service became more demanding.
The company is now developing its event services in Quebec, setting up bars with culinary entertainment for all types of events. OLAOLA's aim is to stand out from the crowd with its quality service and top-of-the-range, healthy products.
THE BIRTH OF A SMALL BUSINESS
OLAOLA,A BRAND CREATED BY JOHN TASSI
It was in 2011, in France, near the city of Montpellier, that the small company OLAOLA was born. John Tassi, the 22-year-old founder, imagined and created his take-away ice cream and smoothie concept on the beaches of southern France.
Over the next few years, the company grew and OLAOLA products became increasingly popular with consumers. Indeed, one of the company's strengths was to stand out from what was already on the market. Very quickly, John decided to offer his customers homemade products full of fruit. He came up with a number of smoothie recipes, and then went on to create his own ice cream bar, Le smoothie à croquer.
THE SHORT STORY
Originally, the name OLAOLA was the name of the song John invented, the same one he used to make himself heard and spotted by holidaymakers on the beach! That's why he named his company OLAOLA. And you could hear it: "OLAOLAOLA, OLAOLAOLA, scrunchies - doughnuts - ice creams - coffees and fruit all summer long, it's OLAOLA who's come to treat you!!! "
You can imagine the music, and the number of children who knew the song by heart. Ah, the poor parents!
A NEW ADVENTURE
OLAOLA SETS INTO MONTREAL
In 2019, John moved to Quebec to join his partner Aurélie, who had just arrived for a new job. Passionate about entrepreneurship and eager to create a new company, he took the time to understand the Quebec agrifood and events markets. And so, in April 2020, John created his first Quebec company, whose business model was inspired by OLAOLA in France.
